We improved smoothness on orthodontic archwire for medical/dental manufacturer.

NiTi wIRE ROUGHNESS IMPROVEMENTS

Quantitative analysis carried out on four manufacturers orthodontic archwires as electropolished by GMOS carried out.  Significant increases in finishing were observed and a smoother surface produced as per our electropolishing Nitinol Wire process.

Electropolishing of nitinol wire suitable for orthodontic archwires has been achieved, and a quantitative assessment of the improvement in surface roughness has been made. Due to the lack of replication, this can be considered indicative only at this stage; further trials using replicates should be undertaken in order to determine whether these results are repeatable and consistent.
